Blowout preventers serve as well control devices used to prevent the uncontrolled release of wellbore fluids during coiled tubing operations. Each well control stack consists of a series of ram-type preventers designed to ensure pressure integrity and safety during coiled tubing operations. The various RAM configurations include: 

  • Blind RAM (to seal the BOP bore in the event of a well control emergency)
  • Shear RAM (shear the coiled tubing)
  • Slip RAM (grabs and holds the coiled tubing)
  • Tubing RAM (seals around the coiled tubing)

Trican offers a variety of RAM style BOPs to fit our customer’s well control requirements.

  • Dual, triple or quadruple RAM BOPs are available
  • BOP stacks are IRP21 or API16ST compliant 
  • BOP is configured with a combination of blind, shear, slip and tubing RAMs
  • Independent slip RAMs – tubing RAMs can be closed without damaging the pipe

  • Meets NACE and API 6A requirements for H2S Service
  • Coil sizes up to 79.4 mm (3-1/2 in.)
